I was always amazed by what stories could do.
I grew up near Washington, DC, where my mother sang in the opera chorus and my father collected antique multilingual literature. I found myself drawn to musicals and Russian literature, which aren’t as disparate as they seem. During my junior year of college, I attended a conservatory in Russia. After enduring a challenging winter of disapproving stares, I realized acting wasn’t my calling.
Determined to find my footing, I moved west with three friends in a Toyota Camry and discovered writing. Before long, writing (and teaching others how to write & think about language) became central to my career. I’ve taught over a thousand students in settings ranging from middle school classrooms to writing groups for adults with ALS.
Today, my work lives where storytelling, teaching, and technology meet. I support organizations and teams through content design, UX writing, and AI language work, helping shape the ways people interact with information and one another. Underneath it all is the same fascination I’ve carried since childhood: the power of language to influence, connect, and cross boundaries.
Alongside this work, I maintain an active creative writing practice and am currently working on a memoir.
